Obituary of Rosemary Uribe Wilson

Rosemary Wilson was an only child born October 7, 1934 to parents Fernleigh (“Liny”) and Edna Lineweaver. Her father, “Liny” was employed by Firestone as an engineer and in 1939 the family moved to Sao Paolo, Brazil to continue his career. Rosemary learned Portuguese quickly, attending school in Brazil from kindergarten through high school. She loved the spirited music and dancing of Carnival and adapted to Brazilian lifestyle quickly. Liny taught her to dance and she excelled at swing dancing, the Charleston and all forms of ballroom dancing. She made the difficult decision to leave Brazil at age 18 and head home to “the states” to attend Miami University in Ohio where she studied history and Spanish, earning her bachelors’ of arts degree. It is here that she met and married her first husband, John Sherman, a law school graduate. The couple settled on base in Alabama where John served in the JAG Corps in the U.S. Airforce. Soon after Rosemary became pregnant with their first daughter, Karlyn Ann, who was born in 1961. The couple moved to San Mateo, California where John was employed as a District Attorney for South San Francisco. Their second daughter, Kimberley was born in 1964. Rosemary’s favorite activity was ballroom dancing which enjoyed with her second husband, Rudy Uribe and after his death, her third husband, Dick Wilson. She and Dick published a monthly “Ballroom Dancers’ Rag” magazine which allowed Rosemary to utilize her talents for writing and desktop publishing, honed as an administrative assistant to the Provost of Menlo College. She and Dick moved to Folsom in 1990 to be closer to family. There they enjoyed gardening, ballroom dancing, traveling and spending time with family and friends. After Dick’s passing, she enjoyed participating in Jazzercise, a community walking group, coloring her coloring books, and spending time with “Squeaky” her beloved parrotlet. She also wrote fictional short stories and translated the Brazilian short story, “O Saci,” by Monteiro Lobato to English. Rosemary was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in January 2019 and underwent surgery. She had a wonderful 2019 up until November. After a brief time in the hospital, followed by hospice care at her daughter Kim’s home, Rosemary left this world and went on to her next adventure on January 7, 2020. She is preceded in death by her parents, Fernleigh and Edna Lineweaver, her first husband, John Sherman, her second husband, Rudy Uribe, her third husband, Dick Wilson, her nephew “Rusty” Price, and her dear parrotlet, Squeaky. She is survived by her daughters Kimberley Harrell and Karlyn Price, her son-in-law, Vince Harrell, her grandchildren, Courtney and Alec Harrell, her step-sons Marc Wilson and Mercury Freedom, and sister-in-law, Julia Payne. Per her request, there will be no services. She only wanted her Folsom Jazzercise friends to get together for tea and share memories and stories about their time together. We are organizing this gathering to honor her wishes.
