Obituary of Von David Curtis
Von David Curtis, of Placerville, California, passed away on February 9th, 2023, at the age 87. A son of Alfred and Eula (Troutt) Curtis, he was a graduate of Bergman high school in Bergman Arkansas. Von enjoyed attending his high school reunions and connecting with old friends and classmates.
Von and his wife Sandy lived in a home they built together in Placerville, California. They traveled extensively in their motorhome mostly to visit family. He loved to fish, watch the races, and find good deals. He was known to his family and friends as being honest, fair, and a leader. He was a firm believer in doing the right thing and standing by his beliefs. He could and would talk about his military service and family for hours and remembered every story in detail.
As a veteran of the U.S. Army, he served his country in the Service Company 511th Airborne Infantry Regiment of the 11th Airborne Division. Von was a proud member of the Operating Engineers 3 Union and enjoyed a career as a heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and five brothers, Dean, Dale, Perry, Eugene and Duane Curtis.
Survivors include his wife Sandra Curtis (Elick); his sons, Jimmie, Roger and Robert; Grandchildren, Jennifer, Brandon, Kody, Von, Kyle and Tessah Curtis; great grandchildren, AJ, Gunner and Wesson Curtis; sister Donna Curtis; brothers, Joe, Gary and Glen Curtis.
Von was loved by his family and friends and will be missed by many.
