Obituary of WILLARD RICHARD MELROSE JR.
Willard (Will) Richard Melrose Jr passed away on November 17, 2022 at home after a long, hard fought battle with lung cancer; a result of Agent Orange he endured during his time in Vietnam. During his two years in Vietnam (1968 – 1970) he was awarded a Purple Heart Medal, a Presidential Unit Citation and a Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry with Palm and Fram among many other accolades.
Will was born October 29, 1949 to Fannie Worth and Willard Richard Melrose Sr in Coalville Utah. He has been preceded in death by his parents, 5 sisters and an infant grandson, Tyler. He is survived by his brother Michael Bowman; 3 daughters; Elsieanne (Joe) Baumann, Christi (Jerry) Sanders and Machaela (Shawn) Melrose and his granddaughter Jensen Sanders. As he grew older his daughters and granddaughter were his greatest joy.
Will was fortunate to have spent the majority of his working years building a career and honing his skills for his calling of being an electrician at the Army Depot. Upon his retirement, his days were spent on his 13 acres in the hills outside of Placerville tending to his beloved animals, tinkering in his shop and caring for his land. His favorite time of day was an early morning shared with the sunrise and a cup of coffee.
As we share this tribute about our dad with all of you, we want you to know that he spent his golden years settling in and found peace to enjoy his quiet days on his slice of Heaven.
Cheers to all of you and please share a toast with a glass of your favorite Port!
