I would like to send our thoughts and prayers out to the Abshire family during this difficult time. Joe's dedication to health and safety helped numerous IAMAW union brothers and sisters nationwide. Joe was a proud husband, father and Union Brother who cared first and foremost for his family. He also selflessly dedicated his work life for the safety and health of his Union Brothers and Sisters for many decades. The positive impact he made at hundreds of workplaces where he shared his expertise as an advocate and educator helped protect thousands of workers. His contribution in the service of the members will continue for years to come. Rest in peace Brother Joe and may Melody and Megan find solace and comfort in the joyous family memories you have.

I wish I had pictures to share. I loved Joe and of course, love his lovely bride, Melody. They adopted two tiny puppies from us without a second thought. When they grew up to be as big as horses, they continued to love and care for them. Loved going to their house for the biggest illegal fireworks display in any neighborhood on the 4th of July. I'll miss those times with the family. Stay strong my red headed step sister. Love you. Carol

Our last trip together you were so funny, so lively (throwing the tie off the peanut brittle bag cuz we dont need that anymore, wont specify y lol) I always cherished our trips because you knew so much and you knew so much history behind everything. I know it was a joke with you on the radio navigating everything but i loved it!! I will miss it. When i didnt know what something was, papa joe? What is that? You always had an answer. I love you so much and I will miss you til the day I die. You were a special man and everywhere you went generated a story. I couldn't even tell a fraction of them because I would run out of space. So I will say this I love you!! And I love the people you created!! Rest in peace.

My uncle was so special to me growing up. His home became an oasis for me as a child & later would become a place my daughter took her first steps. Whether he knew it or not my uncle taught me many things that would shape the woman I later became, but a few candid things we could all take note of: steak sauce doesn’t belong on good steak, tomato beer cures hangovers & tomatoes are only good from the garden. His loss is incredible & heavy. What a painful exit to a man loved by all. May his gentle soul rest in piece

Blessed to have known Joe for the short time he was with us at Coloma Resort. Miss the texts and him checking in on us when he himself was in so much pain himself. The best “Pool Boy” Coloma Resort has ever had! Miss that light knock on the door “It’s Joe”. Rest In Peace my friend!
