I have many fond memories of Verne, especially from my childhood. I loved the film strips he gave me and enjoyed many hours with them. I remember hiking near the El Cerrito house and finding cool rocks. He was alway so sweet with us. He was a special person who will be sorely misses. Thoughts and prayers to all of you during this difficult time.

I cannot remember a time I did not know the Odlin family, growing up in El Cerrito and going to school and church together. I remember Mr. Odlin as a soft spoken, caring man who really participated in his kids lives, and had a great model train in his garage! He was my brothers scoutmaster; I can hear his voice and see him in his scout uniform running the Pinewood Derby. My heart is with Joyce, Debbie, Sharon, Ken and Tricia along with all of the family. Rest In Peace Mr. Odlin.

I remember Mr. Odlin always being there when I was growing up. If he had not been around when Ken and I were growing up together I would not have learned to love backpacking. Verne often accompanied us when our Boy Scout troop went camping or backpacking. These trips to wilderness areas helped me develop a deep appreciation for nature that, in turn had a profound impact on my life: it led me into a lifelong career of biological research. My sincere condolences to the Odlin family on your loss.

Verne was such a sweet and humble and kind man h I remember sitting with him for hours and he would tell me all these stories about growing up and the history of placerville. It was always so interesting. It was amazing to me how clearly he remembered all that. He will be missed. Yet he's in heaven now we will see him again! Praise the Lord he's home! I'm so glad I knew him as long as I did and his loving family. Love you guys
