Obituary of Wesley "Wes" Victor Hallmeyer
Wesley “Wes” Victor Hallmeyer passed away of natural causes on June 6, 2021 at the age of 93 in Placerville, CA. Wes was born in Oakland, CA and he and his wife, Lavelle, lived over 60 years in Walnut Creek, CA. His battles with serious medical issues in recent years earned him the moniker “Iron Man.” He courageously faced down his physical challenges, always with a joke to earn smiles and laughs from his caregivers, family members, and friends. Nurses frequently flirting with him was something he bore with the utmost dignity and mirth. He would often ascribe to our 40th president: “Old age is not for the faint of heart!”
Wes met, but did not date, the love of his life, Lavelle, at Fremont High School in Oakland. He knew she needed a few years to appreciate a man of his wit and intelligence. He joined the Merchant Marines and sailed the seas. Then they set course on their 70 years of joyful living and travel adventures. During that time he worked over 30 years for Pac Bell and he was a Member of the Crow Canyon Masonic Lodge. He truly believed in making a better world through actions--starting with his own.
He was the proud father of Kurt and Karl, and just as proud to be a grandfather to Kyle, Kevin and Ronnie (Duke). He is together again with son Kurt and beloved dog Dieter in the vastness of eternity. “Our breath is brief, and being so Let's make our heaven here below, And lavish kindness as we go.” --Robert W, Service
