BARNEY TONY GONZALES – Born Antonio Bonifacio Gonzales Jr. in Sacramento, CA on August 19, 1942, Barney passed away peacefully at age 78 in his son’s home in Shingle Springs, CA on January 18, 2021 due to prevailing complications from COVID-19 contracted in August of 2020. He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria, and two beloved sons, Tony of Sacramento, CA, and Ed (and wife, Celia) of Shingle Springs, CA as well as four cherished grandchildren, Selina, Sabrina, Mia, and Edward Gonzales and his great grandchildren, Isa, Beau, Serina, and Sergio. Barney is also survived by his siblings, Victor, Raymond, and Pat. Barney was excited to reunite with his loving mother, Carolina Rivas Gonzales who passed away in 1997. He was preceded in death by his father, Bonifacio Gonzales, and siblings, Augustine, Lucy, and Gloria. Barney was a proud American serving as an M-14 Sharpshooter for the United States Army stationed in Berlin, Germany from 1960 to 1963. Barney felt honored to work for JB Auto Core for 32 years and was loved by his co-workers and customers alike. Our Papa lived for his family and while we navigate living in this world without our beacon of light and love, we hope to carry on his legacy of unconditional love. Interment will be at the United States National Cemetery in Dixon, CA at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please honor him by sending any monetary donations to Mercy Hospice (916.851.2700) who helped Ed and Celia care for Barney in his final days.
