Obituary of JAMES "JIM" JOSEPH LUCAS
James Lucas
March 12, 1940–July 1, 2020
Jim Lucas was born March 12, 1940 in San Francisco to Joe and Grace Lucas. He graduated from Gardena High School in Los Angeles.
During high school, Jim was involved in Boy Scouts of America, earning his Eagle Scout ranking, and remembers that experience as one of the best highlights of his childhood. His troop had the privilege of performing in a ceremony at the grand opening of Disneyland in 1955. After high school he attended UC Berkeley where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering.
During college he met his wife, Faye, and shortly after being married he enlisted in the United States Navy, completing three years of service. They then moved to Fresno where he earned his Master’s degree at Fresno
State University. After living in Visalia for several years, they moved to Camino where he designed and built their home and resided for 48 years.
He spent most of his career as a junior high school teacher at Camino Elementary School. He then followed his dream of becoming an entrepreneur and opened his own home building inspection business, enjoying 10 years in that field. Throughout his life he was gifted in making, building and fixing things and often used those skills to help family and friends. His family enjoyed many of the handcrafted items he built for them.
Jim is survived by his wife of 58 years, Faye, his four daughters Lenora, Amy, Natalie and Megan and eight grandchildren and step-grandchildren. He will be missed by family and friends.
Jim did not desire to have a public memorial service.
