Obituary of LORETTA "LOREE" KAY NORGAARD

Loree Kay Norgaard (née Stroble), loving wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in her Somerset home on June 9, 2020, surrounded by her beloved family: husband Neil Norgaard; children Amber, Brandon, Erik, and Zachary; son-in-law German; and grandchildren Mateo and Leila. Born June 3,1955 to mother Agnes Stroble (née Hanratty) and father Leopold Stroble in McCloud, California. She spent a magical childhood in Dunsmuir, California with her three siblings; Karen, David and Patricia. She often spoke of this cherished time in her life. Loree was a dreamer and a true romantic. One of Loree’s fondest memories as a young woman was her month long trip to Ireland. Shortly after meeting the love of her life, Neil and Loree married on February 7, 1976, in Miles City, Montana. Later that same year the couple moved on to Neil’s hometown of Tyler, Minnesota, where they owned and operated a restaurant together and had their first child. They eventually settled their family in Somerset, California. Her deep spirituality and devotion to the Catholic faith permeated in every part of her life. She was a touchstone in her foothill community and left an impression on everyone she met. She will be remembered for her kindness, her deep well of generosity, and her compassion for anyone in need. A deeply empathic woman who truly felt connected to everyone she met, she often hosted regular gatherings that bought together and created a close knit community; comprising of some community members that would not have met if not for her love and generosity. You couldn't leave her home without having at least one piece of her famous apple pie, then ultimately having another slice of a different variety. She helped run the family business, The Log Craftsman, which became a successful construction company in the Sierra Nevada foothills. She was the wife of builder and a builder in her own right. She built a strong family home life and enduring community. No matter the circumstances, everyone could rely on Loree to bring them together with an abundance of food and joyousness. The family thanks her many friends and extended family members for their thoughts and prayers. Due to current restrictions, a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date, as yet to be determined.
