Obituary of Jackson David Slay
Our Beloved Jackson “JD” David Slay, born January 8, 2005, took his own life on January 23,
2020. JD was born in Redding. He was a Freshman at El Dorado High School, in Placerville. He also spent many years in Sacramento where he attended Heron School.
JD’s energy and happiness filled any room. His smile was contagious. You could find him in any room with his ever-changing bright colored hair.
JD held a passion for spending time outdoors. He enjoyed camping in the mountains at Hat Creek where he fished for Rainbow Trout. And at Pismo beach where he would ride his dirt bike. He loved the freedom to roam and play.
JD loved pets. He loved spending time with his dogs and cats. Animals loved him too, they were always happy to see him when he visited. He even helped his Grammy pick out her cat.
JD was an accomplished home cook. He enjoyed waking early to cook breakfast for the family, and spent many evenings creating dinners as well.
JD enjoyed skateboarding and video games. He enjoyed spending time at the skate park with his friends perfecting his skills. He would wake up early to play video games before others were
awake, and even found a way to play games with his feet when his arm was in a cast. He was an accomplished soccer player. His competitive spirit was evident at all family gatherings as he, his siblings, and his cousins battled for “King of the Ottoman”
JD is survived by his parents, his siblings; Taylor, Layne, and Kylee, grandparents, and extended family, who will miss him dearly. We will cherish the lasting memories, and the impact that he had on all of us.
We will celebrate his life at 1 pm, on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at Cold Springs Church in Placerville.
