Obituary of Robert Alfred Major
Robert A Major went to be with Jesus, his personal Lord and Savior at the age of 65 in Placerville CA on Wednesday January 15, 2020. He leaves a legacy that will be cherished by all that knew him. He was genuine to the core and had a tendency to smile through everything. With a tenacity to conquer, create, or explore, he seized a lifetime of memorable moments. Athleticism combined with a sincere joy of being in the outdoors lead to many great times at the beach, fishing, snow skiing, camping, surfing, water skiing, and hunting just to name a few. Bob had a true love of music whether he was playing it himself or listening along, he loved it all. Bob was a strong man that proved toughness was a heart condition.
Bob spent nearly 50 years in a profession that he loved. Building roadways, tunnels, bridges, walls, boat launches, and campgrounds up and down the state of California. His intelligence was unmatched and his ability to make friends with colleagues was uncanny. Unconventional in many endeavors, he had a talent for creating beautiful work. Bob never let the love of money rule his life and always treated people fair.
Perhaps Bob’s greatest accomplishment in life was the unconditional love he gave his family. Bob’s kindness was felt on all levels. He was the most gentle, loving soul that any child could hope for. There was a tenderness in his hands of steal that provided all the comfort you would ever need. Bob taught his children to ride a bike, play catch, fish, ski, shoot guns, ride horses and lots of other great stuff but most importantly, he taught them that it is so nice to be nice. He taught them that togetherness is essential, and forgiveness is key. Loving them was the heartbeat of his existence.
