What a gift it was to have Bernice as a friend! We were neighbors in Stockton, California in the '70's and with six other local women (all affiliated with UOP), were blessed to dream up and breathe life into the Women's Center of San Joaquin County, which opened in 1976 and is still an important agency in the County. Her intelligence, wisdom, persistence and humor was always available and nourished all of us, including the flood of women who came (and continue to come) to the Center to be part of the energy, as well as to receive assistance.
