Obituary of VERNON WALTER LICHTENBERG
Vernon Walter Lichtenberg was born in Yuba City, California on April 10, 1940 and passed away in Sacramento, California on January 10, 2019.
Vernon grew up in Shingle Springs and attended El Dorado High School in Placerville and Sierra College in Rocklin.
After college, Vernon joined the Air Force and attained the rank of Tech Sergeant and was an Avionic Instrument Technician during his 20 year career. During his career, Vernon served all over the globe, including 2 tours in Vietnam and several years with the United States Air Force Air demonstration team "The Thunderbirds." After his Air Force retirement Vernon settled in Sacramento, CA and continued working as a civilian Avionic Instrument Technician at McClellan Air Force Base in California.
Some of his fondest memories were when he did volunteer time at the Air Force Museum at McClellan Park in Sacramento.
Vernon is survived by his long time partner Ursula P. Menhorn of Sacramento; sister Sharon (Bob) Herd of Loomis, CA; brother-in-law Bill Herd of Carmichael , CA; brothers Marc Lichtenberg of Shingle Springs, CA and Kurtis (Patricia) Lichtenberg of Shingle Springs, CA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
There will be no funeral services, but a Veterans Memorial Service will be scheduled on a later date which will be posted in the Sacramento Bee.
