I sent a message when I learned Johnny died.......it's not enough..........Johnny took me off Arden Way as a 19 year old kid and gave me a dream job as the Sunday night (9 pm) to Monday morning (6 am) dj.........for six months I was alone at the KROY studio for nine hours........July 1968-December 1968......playing records for thousands of people I could not see... he dubbed me the Electric Cord.......it was the finest six months of my life and I owe it all to Johnny.............Johnny showed me how to use the board....he made me drive the huge old KROY fire engine when I didn't want to do it....on Arden Way.............he made me feel like somebody and he didn't have to do it.......I would get phone calls from jocks from all over cussing me out for getting the job they should have had........I will love the man every day of my life...............I just regret I didn't tell him any of this when he was alive.............
I had the pleasure of working for Johnny for six months in 1968. He was the best boss I ever had and one of the finest men I ever met. I am so sad to hear of his passing. Corden Jacobson.
