Obituary of John Rodney Lindberg, Jr.
El Dorado, California – John Rodney Lindberg, Jr., 71, died on Tuesday, May 9, 2017,
surrounded by his family.
John was born on March 3, 1946 in Brockton, Massachusetts and raise in homes in
Whitman and Wellfleet. After graduating from Whitman-Hanson Regional High School,
he proudly joined the United States Air Force where he spent time in Thailand
supporting the American war efforts in Vietnam. He carried his dog tags with him
throughout his life. Upon his return, John married is wife, Connaught. Subsequently,
they trekked across the United States to ultimately settle in Livermore, California in
1978, where they raised their family. He worked in the flexible packaging industry,
handling all aspects of production and management over his four decade career. John
and Connaught retired to El Dorado, California, where he enjoyed vast views of “his”
Sierra Nevada mountains from the front porch their of home and golden sunsets from
their back patio. He was active on the Logtown Fire Safe Counsel and loved exploring
the history and the roads of the gold country in his 1977 Datsun 280z. John was well
respected by those that met him for his integrity and strength of character.
John was a devoted husband and father. John is survived by his wife of 49 years,
Connaught Ann (Nason) Lindberg; his three children, Jennifer Lindberg (Sacramento,
CA), Jeff Lindberg (Herald, CA) and Kara Szymanski (Parker, CO); his mother Madelyn
Thompson Lindberg (Wellfleet, MA); his four grandchildren, Jonas Edward, Ireland
Brooke, Gwenyth Isla, and Ian Walter; and his three brothers Peter, Mark and Paul, and
their families.
A memorial service will be held on June 24 at Light of the Hills Lutheran Church in
Cameron Park, followed by an open house at home in El Dorado to celebrate his life.
John enjoyed helping young people succeed in life; a scholarship fund will be set up in
his name to continue this legacy
